I realize this isn't as exciting as learning how to get a hazy shot or take a silhouette shot but it is more important - organizing your photos. I'm probably one of those weird people who LOVE organizing! Seriously, if you have a messy closet, call me up and I would love to help you clean it out and organize it. Even though I love to be organized that does not mean I have a clean house. Let's be clear :O) One area I make sure is extremely organized is my pictures. I have not always had a ...continue reading

Have you ever noticed that some of your favorite blogs link up with items they like or recommend? Well, the odds are these are affiliate links. What is an affiliate link? Certain companies like Amazon offer affiliate programs to bloggers who post a link to an item they are selling. In return the company gives the blogger a small portion of the sale like 4-6%. This doesn't cost the customer anything extra but it allows you to support your favorite blogs. I know when I'm making a ...continue reading

I learned there is so much to learn about editing skin tones. I knew there was a skill to this but I didn't realize there was a mathematical number formula going on :O) I spent FOREVER editing two pictures for my Lightroom 101 workshop through Clickin' Moms. I finally was able to get this picture to look right and have the numbers read correctly. Honestly, my head hurt so bad! :O) Now it's your turn. What did you learn this week?? You know the old saying "You learn something new ...continue reading

I think we have all been asked what type of camera we have. I don't mind this question at all. However, when someone says it takes nice pictures I struggle to find the right words to explain that I shoot on manual mode which is why my pictures look the way they do. Last summer, Erin wrote a post that spread like wild fire in the photography community. I love how she compares your oven to your camera. You wouldn't tell someone their oven made yummy cookies :O) She does an amazing job of ...continue reading

At the end of last year I read a book about living a simpler life. One of the main things they talked about was living "intentionally". I realized I should use this idea when it comes to my photography as well. I have read many articles talking about not being a "lucky" photographer who just happened to get a good shot, but to be a good photographer who knows what you are doing to get the good shot. Therefore, I decided to start photographing more intentionally. What does this ...continue reading

I was orginally planning on doing a post to ask for donations to the Red Cross to help Japan with their relief efforts. Since then, the US has been hit by some natural disasters of its own. It breaks my heart to see people suffering. Since we are in Japan and I want to help our neighbors in Japan as well as our neighbors back home I thought I would offer a giveaway. Last year I ordered two years worth of Photo Vision Videos. These videos are amazing! Seriously, they each include 3 ...continue reading

I must admit, I can count on one hand the number of times I have tried to photograph newborns. I wish I had had a post like this prior to those shoots. Little things like the fact that they typically take 3.5-4 hours would have been good to know. My sessions only lasted about 1.5 hours and I felt I couldn't get those babies to sleep. Luckily, I was just shooting for family and friends who hopefully had zero expectations. ha! This post written by Arden Prucha Photography is outstanding! ...continue reading
