Song Lyric Inspiration-Photography Creative Exercise
Lifestyle

I bought For the Love ebook by JinkyArt. When you purchase the book you get to join a private Facebook group. One of the other gals posted an image which inspired this whole exercise!

Thank you Janeen Kelley of Janeen Kelley Photography based out of Sarasota, FL for the inspiration! I asked her if I could share the image with you guys.

I shared this exercise in the newsletter a few weeks back but wanted to share it as a creativity exercise.

What is one of your favorite songs?
-Use the song lyrics as inspiration for your photos.
-Think of songs that make you think of your children or spouse.
-Pick a few verses and photograph your vision.
-Don’t forget to site the source.

If you wanted to pick just one song that reminds of your child for example. You could photograph a series of images, put the lyrics to them and make a special book of just those images. What a special gift for someone special!

Here are a few photos to get you thinking.

I’m working on this for my daughter. I had one of my firework photos from 4th of July printed with an overlay reading “There’s a spark in you/You’ve just got to ignite the light and let it shine.” I have the print, I have the frame, I just need to type up and print the rest of the “Firework” lyrics to go beside the photo. (And I have to fight hard to print the lyrics of the song without correcting the grammar and spelling. I used “got to” instead of “gotta” on the print because I just couldn’t put “gotta” on my photo. But I’ll print the lyrics as Katy Perry intended.) :)

I hope if my daughter ever doubts herself, she will read those lyrics over and over and see the words on the photo and restore her confidence.

So very cool and what lovely images. Seeing Kate does make me kind of want a girl……..it may be for selfish reasons :) Maybe, she will let me photograph her one day. I don’t think I have a chance with Bennett.

I don’t see “For the Love” on her site. Would this instruct you how to get the overlays?

No, the overlays did not come with the ebook. We all created these in Photoshop :)
