30 Day Challenge: Photograph Your Kids-Creativity Exercise
Lifestyle

Are you looking for a creativity exercise that will not only help you with your photography but help you document your family?

Try this 30 day challenge to photograph your kids! The prompts are already there! You just pick the day you start. It could be today or the beginning of the month. Photograph each prompt each day. Don’t forget to put your own spin on it. Try not to take “snap shots” of everything. How can you make that photo stretch your creativity?

Remember, don’t try and stop your child each day to get the photo. Don’t say “cheese”. Just capture who they are right now!!

Show off your shots

June 1st: Several of you have requested a place to publish the photos you take from the challenge. Starting June 1st if you want to participate you can show others your photos as well as be encourage and inspired by posting in one of two ways:

Facebook: You can post a photo on our Click it Up a Notch Facebook page or you can post your photo and “tag” Click it Up a Notch so it shows up on our wall.

Flickr: You can post your photos in our Flickr group here – Click it Up a Notch – 30 Day Challenge. I encourage you to leave comments on each other’s entries.

I encourage you to post in one of the two places as not only a way to show off you AMAZING images but also to encourage and get to know other photographers participating as well.

You can download the list here: 30 Day Challenge: Photograph Your Kids

Please “pin” on Pinterest and “Share” on Facebook so we can help others find creative ways to capture their kids and boast their photography and creativity!

Do you know of such lists for taking pictures of a baby? My LO is too little for some of the items listed? He’s 4 months, so not running or playing yet…

No, I don’t know of a list for only babies. However, I’m 39 weeks pregnant, so maybe I will brainstorm one just for babies after this little one is born and I have baby photography on my mind :O)

I took “The Best Darn Beginner’s Course Ever” and thought I should just do the study-along since I had been shooting in manual for a few months. BIG MISTAKE! I should’ve done full participation!!! This was my first CM workshop too, and I’m now a Lifetime member! Now I don’t know what to pick next! Definitely going to let the technical stuff sink in over the next month or so and PRACTICE! Your list is kind of like a creative outline for me!

Yes, I truly believe full participation is where you get your money’s worth. The critiques and being able to ask questions is priceless!! So glad you were able to take it though! Which one are you going to do next? I’ve taken 6 (yes, I’m slightly obsessed) so if you have any questions about them let me know :O)

Can you suggest a standard photograph for the 29th that people in the south might take? There is no way our 15 deg weather can justify a pool, sprinkler…braving the beach in the winter woolies might be ok but the 29th its not a weekend so could be tricky.

Oh yikes! Definitely don’t get in the water :O) Maybe you could do something fun like wrapped in a scarf and snuggled up in a blanket.

I love this idea, I’ve been looking for something like this, however my babies are not little. My first born is graduating from high school and my second born is a freshmen. This has been a very emotional year with all the changes and shift in my role as a full time mom I have turned to my camera for solace. It might be kind of fun to compare little one to teens, same activities, give and take, different chapters in life. Thoughts?

I love the idea of using these prompts but making them appropriate for older ones. I would love to see what you come up with!!

I have started a 365 Days Challenge last week when my baby turned 6 months. I don’t follow a list but seems like it will be helpful. I got some ideas already from your list :) If you want to take a look at my challenge blog. here is the link:

    Thanks for the great ideas!

Just posted my first three days in the flickr group. I think I did it correctly, if not let me know and I can move them. (I started a day early, mostly because I got the most adorable shot of Mae and I!)

Ok, I’ve posted several photos. I’m not always getting the right picture on the right days… sorry about that. I also had quite a few days of not uploading pics ( kids were sick last week). Sorry, first time doing a challenge like this… but it is fun. Thanks. My Flickr page is Seasons@home. Hope everything is going well with the new baby. Congratulations again.

Don’t worry about not going in order! It’s your challenge to interpret how you want! I’m just glad to hear everyone is out taking pictures!! Hope your kiddos are feeling better!! Life is great here :O) Thanks!

I love lists like this! I find that I sometimes have the same pictures over and over of my kids. (How many shots do I really need of them going down the slide in my backyard – just in different shirts?) Thanks for the inspiration. If the Flickr board is still up and running, I’ll have to take a peek at everyone’s submissions. I feel like I learn a lot from looking at other Mom’s photography. :) Thanks again!

THanks :) I don’t believe the Flickr group is active anymore since this post is 2 years old. Have fun capturing your kids.
