Personification – Photography Creative Exercise
Lifestyle

If your children are like mine they often get tired of the camera and would love for you to photograph something else. I have found so much fun in photographing their toys, mainly their stuffed animals.

For this month’s challenge I want you to give a personality to an inanimate object.

Personification means “giving an inanimate (non-living) object human traits and qualities, such as emotions, desires, sensations, physical gestures and speech” according to Wikipedia.

Use composition and lighting to help create the mood. Feel free to manipulate the object to place it in the best light or position.

You do not need to only stick with toys as there are many things you could use.

These are so cute! Can you talk about the lighting a little and how to achieve it? Love it.

Great idea. Our poor kids certainly do get tired of a camera around all the time! I’d love to hear more about the lighting you used here as well.

Seriously what a GREAT idea! I am going to participate for sure. What a great topic for the nasty cold winter – I am out of things to shoot until spring rears its head! :)

Of course! You can do personification with any kind of camera :) The low lighting will be tricky but not impossible. Turn off your flash and maybe put your camera on a tripod :)
