How to Display Photos – Elicia Graves
Lifestyle

Today I want to share a few tips that I have learned about how to display photos in my home.

1. Small prints will make more of an impact in a larger frame with a mat.

2. When choosing a small print for display such as a 5×7 or 8×10, a simple close up image of your subject can have more impact than a scene with a lot of detail and distractions.

3. Detailed scenes are a great option for a wall print because you can appreciate and really observe the complexity of the image at the large size.

4. When deciding on a size for wall art, try taping squares or rectangles of wrapping paper on the wall or over the couch where you intend your piece to go.  This can help you decide on the best size to order for your wall art.

Remember you do not need to have a large gallery wall to use your photos to make an impact in your home.

i would like to see a post about where you get pictures printed/canvases made, etc. I like to use Costco for prints and Canvas on Demand for canvasas, but I would love to hear what the other popular options are. I’m not a professional, just a MWAC, so I’m not looking for super professional print services, but I have learned not to print at my local drug or box stores ;)

My husband and I did #4 for our living room a few months ago and it worked out great! It was so hard to figure out just how we wanted things to look and this really gave us the option to move things around until it was perfect. I love #1, I may just give that a try!

I’m into the bigger frames right now. Just because we have so many blanks walls in my home. I do add smaller photos on desks and such but for my walls bam huge!

I love this post. Recently I have been reading so much about photography…but NOT taking pictures. It might be time to invest in the new Girl’s Day Out Shutter Bag!! This way I can have my camera on me at all times. Can’t decide between grey or green!! Your photography project will help me justify this purchase!!! Love your blog…thanks for all you do.
