Photography Marketing | Tips for connecting with past clients via Click it Up a Notch

Your current clients are your ideal future clients. Don’t forget to include them in your photography marketing. There is no need to hope these clients will find you on Google because they already have. They know what to expect when working with you and love your work. If they hired you once, make sure they hire you again. Connecting with past clients is one of the easiest ways to book more sessions.

Don’t assume, just because they follow you on social media, they are going to know what you are up to. You need to be proactive when reaching out to your past clients. They are such a valuable part of your business!

Tips about how to use photography marketing to connect with past clients

1. Over deliver.
This is so important! I can’t stress this enough. Show your clients five extra images in their gallery. Bring several bottles of water in a cooler for your clients to enjoy during the summer, or maybe hot chocolate in the winter. Give them a free mini-accordian book as a thank you. Offer a complimentary low-resolution image for them to share on Facebook.

2. Send a “Thank You” card.
There is something so special about a company taking the time to send a hand-written thank you note in our world of technology. I am always so impressed when I receive a hand-written thank you note with an order. Tell them how much fun you had at your session, thank them for their order, and offer a discount for their next session or when they refer a client. Such a simple photography marketing tool, but one that goes a long way.

3. Connect through a newsletter.
Encourage your clients to sign up for your newsletter. Whether you send it out weekly, monthly, or quarterly, by sending a newsletter you are reminding your past clients that you are still there. Showcase past sessions, include a tip, and/or mention a new product you are using. Check out the newsletter templates from Squijoo as they have a space for all this information.

4. Mail marketing postcards
Reaching out to your past clients through marketing postcards is the perfect way to get your photos in their hands again. They will be reminded of the fantastic images you took and the great time they had at their past sessions.

5. Create a referral program
Reward your past clients for telling all their friends about you. Create a program that will encourage them to sing your praises from the rooftop. They will do your photography marketing for you. Consider rewarding your client for the referral as well as rewarding the future client they sent you.
