Cute! The lighting and exposure is really nice. I think the background is slightly distracting, so I would probably open the aperture a little to blur the background more. And give a little more lead room in the direction she is looking. But she is super cute and it’s a nice photo.

I think you nailed it with your camera settings! Especially with f/3.2 – just right for this photo. I might crop it a bit more to eliminate some of the trees in the background as it is somewhat distracting from the subject. But I love the simplicity and beauty of the props and background! I would be a very happy customer if I was buying this photo!

How sweet!! I really like the overall image and the lighting is really nice! I agree with the above comment that the background is a little distracting. You could help this in post processing with a radial vignette to draw the eye back to the subject. My only other thought would be to keep an eye on your subjects clothing when shooting. I think having her dress pulled down a little more would enhance the overall effect of the image, and that just takes a little extra fussing during the session. But really, it is a great image of a super cute subject and your exposure is right on!

Cute photo, she’s got a genuine smile. I would frame it a little bit different, either mover the camera so she is closer to the right border and has more lead room to where she is looking or shoot from a little bit higher. The exposure is really good.

  • November 3, 2014 at 10:26 AM

Definitely a cutie!! You did just fine overall. I would have shot this image at f/2.8 or lower, for sure. I would warm the image up a bit, and adding a light, feathered vignette will make her pop! Additionally, if her parents had her attention, have them stand behind you next time. Consider the rule of thirds as well, however, there’s nothing wrong with a centered subject either. Great job!

I love her expression! I think you nailed capturing her personality. I suggest cropping or composing so she isn’t in the center of the shot, and placing the box further away from the flowers in the background to create more background blur.

  • November 3, 2014 at 10:31 AM

Super sweet capture! Nice natural smile and well exposed. I also agree with the above comments about the background being a little distracting. One tip I have learned over the years is to distance the background from the subject your photographing. Creating more background blur. I might have positioned the box a couple more feet away from the wild flowers and opened up my shutter two f stops.

What a cutie! I would crop a bit differently; the seed pod coming down on the upper right caught my eye and took it away from her face. I would make her the subject of the photo instead of the background. Crop to put her eyes at the top third of the photo. And like another said give her more room in the direction she is looking. That would also put her one third of the way into the photo on the left following the rule of thirds. The lighting is great and her smile is precious.

Very sweet! I personally, would have closed down my aperture a little bit further – maybe f2.8. I also would have focused and recomposed to position her off center and to the right.

I like this picture it made me smile. I find the watermark a bit distracting, maybe resize it to fit on the box like a label or move it down off the box all together…maybe that sounds picky, but really that’s they only issue I have with the entire photo. I like the flowers next to her to tie in the background and her smile is priceless. Great job.

So cute! Love the moment you captured! I actually like the flowers just behind her, I don’t find them distracting myself, because they establish a nice “scene”, but what I do find distracting is that we can sort of see up her skirt. If her knees were a bit angled or you were off to the side just a bit, I think it would be better.

Very Nice! I’m partial to photos of subjects not looking directly at the camera! Great capture of her eyes and a genuine smile. Good lighting. I suggest additional cropping-the trees in the far background aren’t needed-I would even crop out a little of the foreground. Another consideration may be to move the subject a little to the right of the frame-a bit out of center. The subject is this beautiful child-focus the photo on the subject.

I am not a photographer, love the photo the flowers are beautiful, but the green trees to distracting, I would prefer them yo be blurry

Adorable! The gal is just precious, and the setting is beautiful. I do think maybe you could sharpen the image up just a bit, make the sweet child stand out even more from the background. Others mentioned more background blur, which would help a lot. I love it. I don’t think the setting is too busy at all – very natural and lovely. Really a gorgeous photo!

The exposure and color/white balance are spot on. I like the setting and the genuine smile. I would suggest a horizontal framing to give more room/space for her to look out from. It would also give a better sense of this very little girl in the big outdoors. I think I would have opened up the aperture a bit to blur the background more. Your focus is great. This is a sweet capture of a really darling little girl.

I love the yellow flowers by her hand and I love the peeks of flowers/tall plants in the background. What a beautiful setting. I would have cropped the picture differently– her face is too centered in the photo. That was a great idea to have the toddler sit on something to keep her still. Overall wonderful

Cute image! Your focal point in this image is the little girl. I would either crop in the image to cut out the background (the trees don’t have much interest anyway) or even step closer to the subject to change the composition and cut out all the extra background. The latter would also serve to create a more shallow depth of field which a lot of other comments are suggesting but without having to adjust aperture. You might also try warming up the image a bit.
Otherwise, nice location, perfect prop. :)

This is such a sweet photo. Love her cute little smile. I like the setting of this photo, but I would have positioned her & the box more off center to the right of the photo and created just a bit more background blur so she is the absolute focus of the photo (the background has a lot going on which makes my eyes wander a bit). I love her pose holding the flowers- so adorable!

I love the photo as is. Your subject and setting are wonderful:) Incorporating the overall comments would be nice – Background blur, offset her to the right and move the watermark so it isn’t the main focus. but again… Great shot!

I’m not sure if this was late afternoon shade, but the lighting is lovely. I also liked how you used a box to set her on to keep her from running off (as many toddlers do!). I’m assuming there was someone on camera left trying to get her attention. Next time I would have that person right next to you so her gaze was in the direction of the camera. Also maybe move around to her right or left instead of straight on. A sweet photo of a sweet little girl!

  • November 3, 2014 at 1:54 PM

I love the little girl she is a doll, and the pose on the box is brilliant… looks very playful/childish which is great! the only thing I would change is to get rid of some of the head room above her, and maybe bring the blurriness of the background down a little, due the fact that when you look at her face it is hard to concentrate on, because of the background being so distracting, maybe try to crop the background a little bit and see how you like that…

  • November 3, 2014 at 2:34 PM

Oh wow, don’t think I would change a thing. When you crop for print get rid of the bright spot on the foliage above her head. Love it.

Beautiful subject, my two recommendations would be to blur the background some and crop. So sweet .

I love her pose and expression!! I probably would have moved the watermark so it’s not covering her foot at all, but perhaps you intended that. I think the camera settings are perfect.

Such a sweet photo of this adorable little girl.
The colors, including the white balance, are spot on and you nailed the sharpness.
I have only three suggestions/ideas: bring it in a little more (crop), shoot with a landscape orientation (horizontal) while using the rule of thirds and mind the clothing (especially when someone is wearing a dress or short shorts and is sitting down).
Other than that… GREAT JOB!!! :)

      November 3, 2014 at 4:40 PM

*the reason why I say bring it in a little and shoot horizontal is because you have dead space above her head. The beautiful flowers are more appealing to look at which is why I think a horizontal shot of been nicer.
Sorry for the addition but I felt like I needed to elaborate. :)

She is a cutie!! I might crop closer to eliminate some of the trees. If possible try moving so her legs were a bit to the side. Love the lighting!

How adorable is that face! So cute. I really like the way she is holding the flowers to tie into the background. I don’t mind the trees in the background I like the color and depth but I would clone out the small bright spot on the upper right. I also find the line of the flowers behind her cutting into her head distracting. Maybe shoot from a lower angle. I have think you did a great job on the exposure and color. ;)

  • November 5, 2014 at 2:15 AM

Sweet little kidddd! She is so cute doing her natural smile. The lighting is great, also the exposure but yeah, the BG looks a little distracting so I suggest it should’ve been kinda blurry to add a dreamy effect on the photo and the rule of thirds really suits this scene since she’s looking way beyond what is seen. But you did a great job, you positioned this cutie really well! Keep shooting :)

  • November 5, 2014 at 9:40 AM

Very nice photo….i would try to blur out the background more to make it less distracting and make the photo a little bit brighter/high key! :)

  • November 5, 2014 at 4:55 PM

Oh my goodness, this girl is precious! I think you did a great job with the exposure! One tip that I think would make this image even stronger – cropping it down so the little girl is in the first 2 bottom thirds of the image. The top section is taking up almost as much room as she is, making my focus not go immediately to her. But other than that, this is a super great shot! I’m impressed you got her in that pose holding the flowers and everything. :)

  • November 7, 2014 at 10:12 AM

I love the lil girl in the shot and I think you captured her personality well here. The only thing I’d do differently is warm the picture up a bit with a white balance adjustment in Adobe Raw or Photoshop. Great work.

I like this photo, great job in capturing her adorable smile. I love the colors and the wood crate is perfect in this setting. My only suggestion would be to crop the photo so the little girl gets all the attention. The trees in the background are a little distracting. Great job!

What a sweet shot! The color and exposure are right on, and you captured the emotion beautifully!

I would have changed my angle a bit so I’m not looking at the box from straight on, maybe moving more to her L side would accomplish this. Also I’d love to see a little more space for her to look into in the left of the shot, maybe crop her into the right third?

I love the flowers sitting next to her as well, such a little detail but it brings the shot together beautifully!

  • November 25, 2014 at 1:49 PM

    Hello,
I think I would crop out the trees above so your more focused on her, I would personally make the aperture higher to blur the background out a little bit so the focus is on her a bit more.

But other than that, its a beautiful photo, nice and sharp, the lightening is good, love the prop crate she is sitting on, and the flowers at the side of her :) she is a beautiful little lady
