Gear - Inside My Camera Bag
50mm f/1.8
Nifty-fifty

Ditch the kit lens that your camera came with. You want to purchase a high-quality lens. This lens will instantly change the look of your photos, help you create sharper images, as well as give you the blurry background so many photographers want. I highly recommend starting with a solid prime lens.

35mm f/1.8
Fantastic first lens

If you have a Nikon camera another option is the 35mm f/1.8. This camera is ideal if you shoot mainly indoors in tight places. Whether you choose the 50mm or the 35mm shooting with a high quality lens like this will help you start taking the photos you want to take. Canon has a 35mm f/2 if you are interested in this focal length.

24-70mm f/2.8
Go-to zoom lens

If you are looking for an everyday, all around, go-to zoom lens, look no further. The 24-70mm is the lens you have been looking for as it can do wide shoots at 24mm and zoom in to 70mm. This is the lens I grab if I’m not sure what I’ll be shooting for the day. You can’t go wrong with this lens. Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 | Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 | Canon 24-70mm f/2.8

85mm f/1.8
Perfect for portraits

When it comes to take portraits look no further than the 85mm f/1.8. This lens creates the most beautiful tack sharp images with amazing blurry backgrounds. If you want your subject to pop, get your hands on an 85mm. I have the Tamron version for my Nikon, which I love!

Wonderful wide angle

When I first got this lens I didn’t take it off for a year. I love how much of the environment I can include with this lens. It’s one of my top three favorite lenses. This lens is often the one I reach for when we travel.

Love it for kids sports & wildlife

This is my go-to lens when I photograph my kids sports. Although I may look like the paparazzi on the sidelines I’m able to zoom in and get tack sharp photos of my kids running and playing. If you are into wild life photography this may be a great jumping off point as well.
