What You Show Your Audience–Less is More–Why Didn’t I Think of That? Wednesday
Lifestyle

Last year, I read about how you should not show your family and friends every single photo you take on your vacation. You may take 400 photos. Of those, 100 might be really good, 30 would be great, but only about 10 are “Wow, these are amazing!!” I have tried to use this advice when showing off my own photos to family and friends.

I found this great article about just that. She gives tips on how to choose your photos to show clients. Even if you don’t have a business, like myself, you can still use these tips for posting to your blog, facebook, or however you share your photos. Be sure to spend a little time on her blog as she has tons of great tips and beautiful photography!

So I just found this blog today through Clickin Moms and I have no idea where it has been all my life. Ha! Didn’t see this article this morning. I was looking at her comparison to full frame cameras… I want one so bad! :) Anyways, thanks for another great read!

Thank you for sharing! This is fantastic!

  • Recently I deleted nearly 200 images from Flickr based on the advice I received from a few professional photographers in a forum I belong to – it broke my heart. But I know they’re right. *sigh*

I hate to be a hater, but I wish everyone in the whole world, not just photographers or aspiring photographers, would take this advice. I know I have a really long way to go in choosing pictures to show…but it is really annoying clicking through a million of the same picture (blurry, bad expressions, etc) just to see one good picture of say a family member and her kid!

You are so funny! I think a lot of people feel like that. I know my parents would look at hundreds of pictures of my kids but I am learning that strangers don’t care. Just show a few and people get the point :O)

I try only to show clients 40 of the 150 or so shots I take during a session. Then on my blog or fb I show about 10 most. I want the best of the best representing my work – it really does make a difference. Took me the last year to get better at it and sometimes I still struggle with narrowing it down.

Thanks for another great tip and tutorial!
