Letters to Our Children – March 2014
Lifestyle

Not only do I love writing these letters to my girls but I love that this forces me to get them together to take a photo of all 3 of them. Some of my favorite pictures of the three of them together were prompted by this blog circle. Head over to Barb Riley’s blog to continue through the circle.

letters to our children-4

Dear girls,

Go after your dreams! Whatever you decide you want to do with your life, do it completely and with your whole heart. Don’t do something half-heartedly. It will show. Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

If you all still want to be zoo keepers. Then study, go to college, learn all you can and ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS.

You are strong and determined young women. You can accomplish anything.

When I was younger, I wanted to be a teacher. I played school all the time and couldn’t wait to grow up. I went to college, got my teaching degree, and became a teacher. I loved it! Then Kate came along and I wanted to be a stay-at-home-mom. Some people have asked me if I felt bad for ‘wasting’ my degree. Heck no!

I went after my dreams. I became a teacher.

Dreams change. That is okay and wonderful.

I love being a SAHM but you know, I have a new dream.

I’m a business owner now. I am still a teacher because I get to teach photography but I get to own my own business while doing it. Go after your dreams!

Don’t listen to your friends or even us if we think you are crazy. If you believe you can accomplish something and you TRY, then you definitely can.

Focus on your strengths.

Build those strengths.

Make a difference in the world.

Don’t expect things to be easy.

Following your dreams isn’t meant to be easy. It’s going to be a challenge. You are going to fail. A LOT. You are going to get frustrated. You are going to want to quit.

Don’t quit. If you truly want something you will figure it out.

You have so many people in your life who support you and want to help. Ask for help.

You are not on this journey alone.

I can’t wait to see where your dreams will take you.

Dream big,
Mommy

That is a lovely message for your girls and what a lovely idea that I’m sure, once they pass their teenage years, your girls will appreciate and love.

Such sweet advice mommy. My parents always instilled this message in me as well. As a result I always felt I can accomplish whatever I put my mind to!

Another lovely image Courtney! I love how you use this letter as an opportunity to get all three girls in a photo together. I need to get better about that. I was pretty good in the beginning, but now Cooper is the only one who gets his photo taken :) Great words of advice for your girls and I’m so proud of you for making another dream come true for yourself!
