Document your 100 Days of Summer

Want to hear something that breaks my heart?

We only have 18 summers with our kids. 18 summers! Each time I read that I get a little choked up. 18 summers and then our kids are off to college or another adventure. And I have already used up a lot of those summers.

Summer time is really precious to me. We spend time together as a family on roadtrips and day trips. We hang out, eat outside and go to the pool. Nothing crazy but the simple everyday moments are my favorite.

This is one of the reasons I got into photography. I want to document these everyday moments. Not just birthdays and holidays.

I want to forever freeze the moments of them eating ice cream sandwiches or running through the sprinkler with their friends.

I also want to photograph the quiet moments of them reading and creating interesting stories only a 5 year old can imagine.

Each summer, I come up with some challenges for my kids (I’m competitive like that). As a former school teacher I don’t want all the things they learned the previous year to be lost in the summer months. The past summers I have challenged my kids to read a certain number of books.

Now that both big girls are writing and keeping journals at school I want to encourage that through the summer.

I was super pumped when I found these Forever Notes that are filled with empty spaces for 100 days of journaling. Perfect!

Plus, what I love about them is not only is there a space for my child to write about their day or craft a story about a purple dragon, but there is a place on each page for them to draw a picture or even better, encourage me to print our photos of the summer and include them in the book.

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t need a little encouragement to print our images.

I can’t wait to watch them fill these books this summer. You know, I will be keeping these Forever Notes well, forever. They are capturing my children from their point of view of their summer and imagination.
