By using professional graphics alongside your images, you not only make your images look that much better but you add value to your brand and, in turn, you as a photographer. You want your clients to know you are worth every cent and more that they are paying you.

When you think of graphics don’t just think about logos, graphics can include your fonts and the placement of your images in your marketing material. Since most photographers are not graphic designers as well, it’s important to know why great graphics can help your business.

1. Cohesive Branding
This one is huge! Think of all the brands you recognize by their logo, colors and graphics. Even kids know the McDonald Arches represent McDonalds. You want to make sure that your brand is just as recognizable. The graphics you use with your brand represents you as a company. Yes, if you take pictures for money, then you are a company. Keep in mind your brand needs to be consistent throughout your website, business cards, thank you notes, and the pamphlets you give to your clients. Make sure the graphics and colors you are using for your brand represent you! Do you like clean straight lines or soft whimsical curves? All these play a part in the type of graphics you use.

2. Makes You Look Professional
Even if you answer emails in your pajamas (nothing wrong with that), you need to make sure that everything about your outward business is professional. Just think how professional you would look if you hand/email your client a magazine with everything to expect from your session, including ideas for outfits, prepping for the session, and a checklist. Wow! I would be blown away. Not only do you get to show off your beautiful images, but you get to lay it all out in a professional manner. Your clients can’t help but be impressed by you.

3. Appealing Products
Isn’t the ultimate goal to sell your client products? Yes, it is! However, your client wants the product to look as fantastic as the images showcased in them. Again, this is where using fantastic graphics and designs can make you senior announcement or cake smashing book stand above your competition. Your images will look so much better next to a wonderfully designed product.

4. Add Value to Your Business
When you present a professional package, people think you are professional. And when people think you are professional, they are willing to pay more for your service. I know I have mentioned this in the past but it rings true, people will pay more when they think they are getting more. More doesn’t necessarily mean more images or products but can also be a more professional experience and greater customer service. Therefore, use your graphics on your marketing materials and final products to show your current clients and future clients how professional you are.

Since I’m a big believer in working smarter, not harder, I encourage you to seek out companies who can help you with your graphics to solidify your branding, improve your products and add value to your business. One great company is Galler.ee. If you like bright, clean, and professional graphics you should check out their site.

I know! Can you imagine how impressed you would be if a photographer handed that to you?

Courtney, loved this piece! I first saw Galler.ee’s templates while in Vegas at WPPI and was definitely impressed. Even with a design background and the knowledge of how to make my own templates, with all of the other things I need to keep up with in my workflow (and life!) having these beautiful pre-made templates (most with wording included that requires me to do little more than tweak to fit my own business model) takes an enormous amount of pressure off of me and most of all? My clients LOVE them! It provides all of my information in a professional and succinct way while holding their attention with the beautiful layouts. I also love the flexibility it gives me with which format I chose to use – I’ve sent as pdf files, embedded them into my blog site and am waiting for my first printed newsletter to come back from my print lab. Best of all? It allows me to coordinate each piece with my own branding. How on earth could any photographer resist???
