I know we talked about the rule of thirds and limb chopping but I wanted to touch on one of my favorite ways to compose a photo – fill the frame. Yes, I realize that sometimes you may chop off a head or limb by doing this but I love getting up close and personal with my subjects.
This is a fun way to create unique and beautiful photographs. You can even teach your kids this fun compositional skill.

-When you get in your subject’s face you can capture some crazy expressions :O)
– Your attention is drawn directly to your subject.
– Anything that may be distracting in the background won’t be in the photo.
So today when you pick up your camera get as close as you can :O)

Great reassurance
I captured some awesome pictures of the girl at the zoo this weekend that were full frame. I LOVED how they turned out.
On a separate note I saw you at the BX on Saturday. I walked right past you and your cutie girls. I wanted to say something but saying something like “Hi I read your blog.” seemed so silly. LOL!
You are so funny! I would have loved if you had come up and said hello!! Next time please do!! :O)
Thanks for the tips! I do enjoy filling the frame too :)
Fill the frame shots are some of the best ways to capture kids, in my opinion. :) I love that you see their face and ONLY their face. Great photos!
I agree, I have only been making photos for a few months now but I believe that filling the frame is my favorite way to compose a photograph. It just gives so much more sharp detail.
Amen!! Just added your button to my blog :-)
I love full frame photos. Great pictures.
I love full frame photos; someone told me not to do it and to crop in edit, but I want to fill up my camera. I love it and I get a kick out of my photography!
Thanks for these beautiful examples!!!
I love filling my frame! Probably too much!! I need to change it up some or at least shoot from different angles. :)

Howdy! I know this is kinda off topic nevertheless I’d figured I’d
ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a
blog post or vice-versa? My website addresses a lot of the same topics as yours and I think we could greatly benefit from each other.
If you happen to be interested feel free to shoot me an e-mail.
I look forward to hearing from you! Wonderful blog by the way!
