I Learned 3/3/11
Lifestyle

I learned that each time I look at my photos I find something new I want to tweak. I posted the below picture in my Project 365 a few days ago but when I revisited it this morning I found I didn’t like my edit anymore and changed it. This is part of the reason I would have a hard time going “pro”. Even when I take pictures for friends, I find myself fixing or changing something on the photos each time I look at them.

First edit

Second edit

Which do you like better???

Since I didn’t post an picture share last week, please feel free to post a picture and lesson learned from the past two weeks. Also, I realize some people are having a hard time getting my button to work. I’m not sure what the problem is but I’m trying to fix it. If it doesn’t work in this post, try and take it from my sidebar. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Now it’s your turn. What did you learn this week?? You know the old saying “You learn something new everyday!” Take pictures of it and share with us!! Some weeks you may learn a photography skill and want critiques. GREAT!! Share and ask for them! If you didn’t learn a new photography skill but something about yourself or life, that is great too! Post a picture and tell us what you learned. Can’t wait to see your pictures and find out what you learned!!

As always
1. Post one photo and tell us what you learned.
2. Link your permalink, not your blog address, check out the I Learned Tab if you need help with this.
3. Attach our button to your post
4. Ask for critiques if you want them and post your settings
5. Leave a comment on 5 other posts
6. Open Thursday 8am – Sunday 8am (Japan time) or Wednesday 6pm – Saturday 6pm (EST)

I do that ALL the time! I even go back after I post something, redo it, and post the new one. (Just realized if someone reads my feed, the first one shows up – whoops!) I think you’re right…I like the second edit better because it looks warmer and lighter. But if I hadn’t seen them side by side, I would have loved your original. Love the shot, love the shoes!

It’s a curse! I’m always second guessing myself too. I like the second one better. First looks slightly underexposed – not bad, just when you compare it to the second edit.

    She is too cute!!

I am constantly doing that. I feel the same way about going pro. I am nowhere near that, but my friends keep asking me about it and I am constantly explaining why I am not a professional. I have had to tell them not to call me that to other people. And you know, my photos are better than average, but no where near a real professional.

I do like the second edit better. However, I still think it is a little cool. But I know part of that could be due to posting on the web.

I like the second edit, I think the colors pop more and the crop is better. i came across this tutorial, maybe it will help you with your button?

This actually took me a few takes to determine the difference, so I think that means, they’re both awesome! Although, after identifying changes, I pick the second one!

I really like the second one. The colors and the photo in general are a tiny bit brighter. I do this with all of my photos. One thing I’ve learned [not necessarily this week, but in general] is that while a photo may “technically” say that it’s exposed correctly, sometimes the best photos are the ones that would be classified as over-exposed.

      I agree, I like my photos a little over-exposed as well :O)
