What is a photography blog post without a photo :O) Here you go!
When I sold some things on Etsy (not anymore :O) I did lots of research on how to get my product noticed and to stand out from the others. Everything kept coming back to the product photo. If you have an amazing product but your picture is underexposed and doesn’t look “professional” people tend to keep looking. I eventually bought some expensive light bulbs that were suppose to help my product photos. (This was way before I knew anything about photography) They did look better and I was happy with them but my husband was not happy with the price tag of those lights, especially when after a few months of setting up my “shop” I shut it down due to morning sickness (thanks, Emma) Luckily, for you guys I have a new hobby now :O) ha ha
I found this post about how to make your own light tent. Goodness, me! I wish I had found this when I was selling products. My guess is, there are a few of you out there who make and sell things, this one is for you!! For the rest of us who don’t sell things, I thought this would be a great idea to photograph your children’s favorite toys. I remember reading Baby Photography NOW!
and how you should photograph their toys, pacifiers, and shoes to remember the little details. The author then shows a trick to make the background all white in Photoshop. Well, you could make this box and save your time with Photoshop :O) Less time editing is more time with the family…right? So take the time to make this box and then put it out of your little one’s reach!!
If you do make stuff and use this light tent I would LOVE to see some of your pictures! Leave a comment with a link to your “shop” or website. I am obsessed with online shopping, so who knows you may pick up a few new customers :O)
How funny that this is the link that you picked this week. I have had this link saved on my computer for a couple of months now. I guess it is time to find a box and make it. Ha Ha!!
Great minds think alike!
I love this and can’t wait to try it!!
