If your children are like mine they often get tired of the camera and would love for you to photograph something else. I have found so much fun in photographing their toys, mainly their stuffed animals.
For this month’s challenge I want you to give a personality to an inanimate object.
Personification means “giving an inanimate (non-living) object human traits and qualities, such as emotions, desires, sensations, physical gestures and speech” according to Wikipedia.
Use composition and lighting to help create the mood. Feel free to manipulate the object to place it in the best light or position.
You do not need to only stick with toys as there are many things you could use.
Please share your images on our Facebook page. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
This is great! Just today, L complained that I wanted to take her picture again. :)
So glad you found something to give you little one a break ;)
Love that one with the monkey!
Thanks!! It was fun to do :)
I love these photos. They’re so real.
Thanks so much!
These are so cute! Can you talk about the lighting a little and how to achieve it? Love it.

Great idea. Our poor kids certainly do get tired of a camera around all the time! I’d love to hear more about the lighting you used here as well.
Here are some posts, Kira

Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your response and the links. I actually think I’ve seen all of them before but wasn’t ready for them. Now I am and they were super helpful (Love Celeste’s post!!) Thanks Courtney.
I know, Celeste’s post is awesome!!! Glad you could find them useful :)
Seriously what a GREAT idea! I am going to participate for sure. What a great topic for the nasty cold winter – I am out of things to shoot until spring rears its head! :)
Thanks! Yes, it’s perfect for these dreary winter days!
I will try this. they have had it with the 365er ! Ha!
I’d love to see it on the Facebook wall when you do try it :)
I’m just getting started with photography, and this blog has been very inspirational. I’m going to ‘play’ with some toys later;)
Welcome!! So glad you have found photography :) Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Love, love, love your website….thanks for sharing :)
Thanks so much!!! :)
I’m definitely going to try this, my kids are totally over having their photos taken at the minute!
I can totally see you rocking it with your Lensbaby too :)
Will I be able to take similiar pics with a non DSLR camera?
Of course! You can do personification with any kind of camera :) The low lighting will be tricky but not impossible. Turn off your flash and maybe put your camera on a tripod :)
love using my train people when i’m in a rut :)
