Photography Habit of the Month – Shooting Daily #clickaday
Lifestyle

This month is going to be a challenge but such a GREAT challenge. We are going to shoot EVERY.SINGLE.DAY! You know how much I loved doing my Project 365 in 2010 and how much it improved my photography. I have tried to do two other 365’s since that one but ended up failing. So let’s start small with manageable expectations – 30 days. Surely we can pick up our camera everyday for 30 days.

We all want to improve our photography. Who doesn’t want to get better at something they love? Well, you aren’t going to improve your skills by sitting at your computer and reading about photography all the time. You need to get out there and apply what you are learning.

Photography habit of the month – Shooting daily

1. Pick up your camera everyday.
Make sure you keep your camera in an area that is easy to get to. I leave mine on my desk or kitchen counter but most of the time my desk. I always know it’s there so when I see something I want to capture I know where to go.

2. Keep a list of ideas.
I found this very helpful when I was working on my 365. Somedays you won’t find the perfect shot staring you in the face. Instead, you can turn to your list of shots you would like to capture to help give you a prompt. Check out this 30 day challenge to photograph your kids to get you started if you need some more ideas.

3. Upload and edit those images.
Don’t let them sit on your camera. Upload and edit them daily. Last month we focused on editing daily so this shouldn’t be a challenge for you. Once you have edited them, export them so they are ready for print.

4. Share your photos.
Encouragement is one of the best ways to keep you going when it comes to daily shooting. Please share your images on our Facebook wall and when sharing on Instagram, Google +, and Twitter use the hashtag #clickaday. I will be sharing my images on Google + so I hope you will follow me and our hashtag!

35mm f2.0 ;) I love my 50mm but way too often I end up feeling cramped by it, room is too tight I can’t back up enough to get the scene around a persons face…
Also I notice your using the twitter hashes, I refuse to tweet – so I will be using my Flickr foto and creating a Set :)

Great idea. Count me in too! I’ve got to get my butt offline and shoot more. The best teacher is experience, I’ve got to remind myself of that.

Wonderful! Yes, experience IS the best teacher!

30 days…easy peasy! :) I’ve tried a few times doing a 365 before so maybe this will help.

Easy Peasy! I love that attitude! Yay!

I can take a photo everyday for 30 days. Can’t promise I can edit everyday, the monster likes to play a lot. But I can take a picture everyday and edit them at the end of the week.

I love this post. Recently I have been reading so much about photography…but NOT taking pictures. It might be time to invest in the new Girl’s Day Out Shutter Bag!! This way I can have my camera on me at all times. Can’t decide between grey or green!! Your photography project will help me justify this purchase!!! Love your blog…thanks for all you do.

Yes, you definitely need the Girl’s Day Out and if you are shooting everyday it TOTALLY justifies it :)
