Do you want to know the best way to improve your photography for FREE?? Take on a Project 365. I will be finishing my first one up in just a few days on December 31st. I can’t begin to tell you how much my photography has improved and I have grown as a photographer since starting it. Not only did my photography improve but I have captured some everyday moments I may not have captured. I just went through all my photos the other night in preparing to put them in a photo book, it was such a pleasure to be reminded of some of the simple moments from this year.
How it works: Take one picture and post it every day for 365 days. You can post it either on a blog or a flickr account. Last year, I also did the “Monday Me” which means each Monday I had to be in the picture. Those are some of my favorite photos even though sometimes I wasn’t in the mood to get out the tripod and set up everything. If you do that, I promise you won’t be disappointed :O)
The best way to be successful is to link up with others who are doing the project as well. I know I would not have been able to finish this year if it weren’t for everyone’s encouraging comments and support. I am amazed at the great friends I have “met”.
I wanted to put the idea out there because in a few days I will be adding a tab to the blog for my own Project 365 as well as a space for anyone wanting to do one as well to link up. I hope you will join me on this journey!!

I’ve been contemplating doing that this upcoming year, and decided the other day that I’m going for it. I’m not going to go through the project365 website, but my own blog—I set it up the other night so I’m ready to go on January 1!
I can’t wait to get going and look forward to the inspiration and learning!
Yay!!
So I just went back to the beginning of your current 365 to see the progression in your photos and they were pretty amazing! One of the things I love about your photos is the amazing clarity and all of your early 365 shots are amazingly clear. Makes me have to ask, what do you see as the biggest change in your photos in the past year?
First off, thanks! I had been shooting on manual mode for about 4 months before starting my project so I had a pretty good grasp on manual mode. There are several changes but the biggest would probably be my ability to edit. Until about August, I had no idea what I was doing and I was just messing with actions to fix my photos. I am now really comfortable in Lightroom and do all my own editing and do not rely on presets/actions. I have learned how to create a good black and white photo as well. This project kept photography on my mind which encourage me to take workshops were I learned how to: do custom white balance, silhouettes, backlighting, and becoming extremely comfortable in all different natural light situations.
I am getting ready to finish my 1st year too. I am going to do it again next year. I think I am going to just do weekly posts though.
Hmmmm. I have been tossing this idea around for a little while. Still pondering.
You know you want too :O)
The idea sounds fantastic but if my life stays as busy as it is right now I’m not so sure I’ll be able to keep up!!! I guess I have a few more days to decide :) Maybe it could be a count down for the deployment too!
Do you have to post everyday? That is what gets me….I’m willing to take the picture each day but it is so hard to find the time to sit down and download and post each day! Would a weekly post work?
No, you can make your own rule Laura :O) I know I posted everyday until about November of this past year and then I posted every couple of days or so. I know Sarah at http://www.naptimemomtog.com is going to only post once a week. Just do whatever works for you!
Awesome! That seems much more doable for me! I’m excited about doing this! One of my goals this year is to finally use the manual settings on the camera! I got the understanding exposure book for Christmas and D90 for Dummies :)
How exciting!! I hope you will link up with some others of us doing a 365 so we can encourage each other :O) You will LOVE Understanding Exposure! Let me know if you have any questions :O)

Hi,
I’m new here and have enjoyed what I’ve read so far.
I’m going to join in on your Project 365. I know I’m a little late and hope I can keep up with it. Fingers crossed. :)
Thank you for encouraging us to learn and get better!
