This past Sunday, amongst the craziness that is my life, I received a wonderful email from a girl I have never met. Her name is Erin Blunt and she just wanted to thank me for this blog and sharing the secrets to photography :O) As if that wasn’t enough to make my day, she then went on to say she would like to do something nice for me as a “thank you!” She stated she was a graphic designer and wondered if I wanted her to make me a watermark. Yes, yes, yes!!
Over the past few days she has been nothing but helpful and kind, working so hard on my watermark. She also updated my button (be sure to grab one for your blog, hint hint :O) I truly appreciate all the time and effort that she put into this especially for someone she has never met. The funny thing is we live on a small island in Japan together, so I look forward to the day when I can meet her.
I can’t say enough great things about her so I thought I would ask her a few questions to let y’all know a little about her. She has a website with some amazing work! If you are looking for Christmas ideas I recommend checking out her Digital Watercolors. What a neat way to display one of your photos!!
How long have you been a graphic designer and what got your started??
I knew when I was in first grade that I was going to be an artist. Art was really the only thing that I could ever see myself doing long-term. I got my BA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2007.
What is your favorite part about your job??
I can work for anyone from anywhere since I do all of my work digitally! Being a work-at-home-mom is also quite a perk.
Tell us a little about your upcoming book.
I recently illustrated and designed the children’s book, “Moo Pie in the Moonlight”, written by Beth Olmo. It’s a story about a cat, Moo Pie, and his stroll home as the sun sets while the animals of the farm are settling down to sleep. We’re planning on the books being available to order online in time for Christmas! You can follow Moo Pie activity on the “Moo Pie in the Moonlight” facebook fan page.
What is your favorite photo right now??
It’s a toss up between my baby girl’s buns in the bath tub and one I took of her outside with all the colors of her eyes illuminated.
If you could go anywhere in the world to photograph anything, where would you go??
To my husband. I know it sounds corny, but wherever he is is the best place in the world. I love taking pictures of him and our daughter goofing together!
Check out Erin’s website, Erin Blunt Illustration and Design and be sure to become a fan on her Facebook Page.
I look forward to returning the favor to her and “paying it forward” to someone else!
That’s awesome. I didn’t know you wanted a watermark, i would have made you one! :) I figured out how to import a watermark through lightroom, is that how you do your images? I used to have to go in PS and do it in each individual pic. LR is awesome!
Aww thanks Janell!! You are so helpful already!
You both are deserving of random acts of kindness. You have warmed my heart. I wish good things for you both.
That is so awesome! I love the watermark, it looks fantastic.
How sweet!!
I agree with Erin. I am so appreciative for your blog, Courtney. It gives me excellent tips and it encourages me to keep taking pictures.
Thanks everyone! I think I get more off of this blog then y’all do anyway :O)
