Dads are hard to shop for, aren’t they :)
Hi Courtney! I have an unusual question about clothing for pics. My entire family is going to Grand Cayman this summer, and plan on taking pictures on the beach. Last year we did the denim and white tops, but this year we are looking for something different. There are going to be 4 families represented with 2 kids per family. I’m just wondering how we go about doing something different, but not too complicated or expensive? HELP!!
Oh, that is definitely a tough situation :) What if you choose a couple of colors for a color palette? Like blue, green, and brown? Look through the past What to Wear images and see if you can find a color palette you like. Then tell each family to pick shades of those colors. Make sure to be specific if you are doing light blue or a dark blue. Then ask the families to find clothing that is simple, not a lot of designers or cartoon characters.
So when you say to pick a color palette, do you mean to have 2-3 colors to choose from? Say I do the blue, green, and brown (which I like), just tell them to choose colors from these 3, and to keep it simple? And if we choose blue, then which shade of blue?
Yes, I’d pick 2-3 colors and even send an email with color ideas. For example here is one from the past – http://clickitupanotch.com/2011/06/what-to-wear-in-family-photos-june/ It is green, brown, and pink. People can see the different shades of those colors to give them ideas. Just stress keeping it simple :) Suggest they start with one person and work around that outfit. So for this example, the girls dress and then everyone else pulled the colors. Good luck :)
