Personally, I love Lightroom. I find it user friendly and affordable. Although I own Photoshop, I do 100% of my editing in Lightroom.
I have put together a list of some of my favorite Lightroom tutorials to help you get started on understanding the program. Opening a new computer program can be overwhelming…so many buttons. Just watch a few of these videos to feel more confident in what you are doing.
Remember, you don’t know have to know what every button does in the program. Figure out what works for you and start from there.

Great question and one we have all struggled with at one point or another. There are several reasons your image may not be sharp from your shutter speed to your aperture or even your lens.
Typically, the biggest issue is one of two things.
1. The shutter speed is too low. I recommend staying above 1/125.
2. The aperture is too wide. Depending on how many people you are photographing you want to make sure your aperture is set at a number where everyone is going to be in focus.
Lenses are expensive but I don’t think you have to break the bank to get a great lens that can help you achieve those blurry backgrounds you love.
I remember shortly after I purchased my first DSLR and I was asking my friend, Megan Cieloha, a million questions about photography she told me I needed to buy a 50mm 1.8. It was only around $100. My jaw dropped….a hundred dollars! I just spent a ton of money on this DSLR and now you want me to buy another lens! But she was right, as she often is. That lens made a world of difference in my images. Now, a hundred dollars for a lens doesn’t seem so steep.
