    Oh, wow, love this photo.
The bokeh is gorgeous, and the lighting is perfect!
I love how your eyes are drawn to hers.
The only thing might be that the left corner is just too bright.
I’m not sure exactly how to fix this, possibly in Photoshop?
    Gorgeous shot! Love it:)

What a cutie you have here! I detail you captured in her face is beautiful, even the wrinkles in her lips. It does make me curious as to what she’s looking at. Maybe if the subject was more in the right third and zoomed out some, we could see more of what she’s looking at. Lovely bokeh as well :)

OH GOODNESS I love this picture. I love her expression. I think capturing kids w/expressions that are not looking straight into the camera are my favs. They give the “real” feel (does that make sense ha) I might have maybe played about & see what effects I would have gotten w/this picture in B/W. Thanks for sharing!

What a lovely photo – the slight overexposure draws attention to her eyes and mouth. I think that you’ve captured a real ‘moment’. And of course having such a cute subject helps :-)

I wonder how different it would look with an altered white balance (warmer, perhaps?) or even a black and white conversion with a very light colour wash?

It’s wonderful as it is though – the focus on the eyes is great, and the shallow depth of field is lovely for a portrait.

I absolutely love the light in this photo. The bokeh and the sun hitting her hair is stunning! The only thing I may have done differently is move her over to the right a bit in the frame. She is a little too close to the center for me. The expression on her face and her eyes tell such a story. You really captured such a perfect moment. Thank you for sharing!

So…I haven’t really done critiques before. Brace yourself for some “technical terms” (bwah ha ha ha ha…):

This pictures is just a stellar shot. I work with kids through my job and my favorite part about it is their wonder and curiosity – and you captured that so well here. I also love the coloring of her redding brown hair with the yellow bow, the green in the trees, etc. Someone mentioned trying it in b&w, but I don’t know if I would like that as much because the colors work so well together here. I agree with what’s been said about composition…moving her a WEE bit right in the frame would’ve been perfect, but honestly it’s not something you notice when you look at the subject…you just notice her! One thing I noticed is that (watch it, here come the technical terms!) the picture seems to have a gray mask-y thing going on. Courtney, I know you’ve mentioned white balance a lot lately…does that gray feel have to do with that? In any case, I’m not sure how to fix it…I dunno if warming it up would help or not, but it just doesn’t seem as crisp and clear as it could be. That being said, this is a fantastic shot that would look great hanging on a proud parent’s wall (and would get LOTS of “So, who photographed your daughter? I’d love her to do my kids…”). Thanks for sharing this :)

Jessica, what a great image!! I’m so impressed you were able to get those catchlights in an image that is backlit like this! Great job!! She has such beautiful eyes and you did a great job show casing them. Her skin looks a little magenta to me. You could fix this by adding a little more green to your image (since they are opposite in the color wheel). I would also love to see some more negative space for her to look into. I actually like that she isn’t looking at the camera since it seems like a expression and moment you captured. You captured some beautiful bokeh and that backlighting! Love the halo effect it created on the top of her hair!

Truly a lovely image! Thanks for sharing! Remember these our just our opinions. You want to make sure your vision is what shines through in the image!
