I learned so much this week!! I learned that after months of working with the wonderful Jessica of The Frilly Coconut we were able to come up with a blog design that was “me”. First off, I must tell you guys I’m the WORST client EVER! Just ask my mom, she hates taking me shopping ever since I was a kid, because I’m so picky and I can’t make up my mind. Jessica patiently worked with me as I changed my mind a hundred times since I didn’t I know what I wanted…just what I didn’t want. A designers worst nightmare.
I learned that you guys really take what people say in the Critique Me section and apply it to your image!! Yay!! Thank you to Dan for sending me the image after he took you thoughts! Look how much his picture improved from your critiques!! Please consider leaving a critique each week!!
Before: (photo submitted for critiques)
I learned that sometimes a snap shot is exactly what you need to take to capture a memorable moment. I wish all my photos could be creative and have an interesting composition but that just isn’t the case when your a mom trying to capture memories. Kate was chatting with my parents on the phone and looked so “grown up” in her outfit. Even though it’s a snap shot, I adore it :O)
Now it’s your turn. What did you learn this week?? You know the old saying “You learn something new everyday!” Take pictures of it and share with us!! Some weeks you may learn a photography skill and want critiques. GREAT!! Share and ask for them! If you didn’t learn a new photography skill but something about yourself or life, that is great too! Post a picture and tell us what you learned. Can’t wait to see your pictures and find out what you learned!!
As always
1. Post one photo and tell us what you learned.
2. Link your permalink, not your blog address
3. Attach our button to your post
4. Ask for critiques if you want them and post your settings
5. Leave a comment on 5 other posts
6. Open Thursday 8am – Sunday 8am (Japan time) or Wednesday 6pm – Saturday 6pm (EST)

I ♥ your new layout. The page is so bright and happy now! I also adore the snapshot you took of your daughter. I have to remind myself every now and then that the moment you capture is just as important and the composition of the picture!
I am glad you finally found something you really like.
Wow…..DAN that looks fantastic!! I am sorry I didn’t leave a critique. Somehow I missed it.

Dan is the MAN!!!! Totally swooning over the edited image!!!!!!
Site looks great, Courtney!
Mrs Courtney,
I was just wondering if a photo could be edited before sending it in to Critique Me. I hope to but was not sure if a raw photo or an edited one was to be submitted? Or both is ok?
Thanks!
Hey Ashlyn!! I recommend sending your image edited unless you are looking for help with your SOOC. If you send it edited you can get help with your edits as well as your image as a whole :O) Looking forward to seeing your image! P.S. You can call me Courtney :O)
Thank you for your reply. I will do that, sending one in very soon!
Dan- the after shot is just awesome! I didn’t even see the sea floor detail in the before, and now if jumps off the page and is so beautiful. Good for you…. I didn’t even understand half the critiques!
Love the ‘snap shot’ with perfect lighting and darling perspective, I think you told the story! :S
Your new look is beautiful!! Love your photos this week too!
I love the new style of your blog! So cute and whimsical! Are you going to do a favorite photo of August link up? I haven’t linked to the latest “I learned” cuz I feel like I haven’t learned anything lately! haha. Also, can you do a post on your d700 and thoughts about it some time?
