Picture Share–I learned…
Lifestyle

I don’t know what it is but if I don’t go to bed at about 9pm when I’m exhausted then I have the hardest time sleeping. Most nights I stay awake until about 10pm or 11pm editing pictures or wasting time on Facebook. Then when I finally get in bed, my mind won’t stop working. That is so frustrating :O) I tend to come up with ideas when I’m laying in bed not sleeping. I started to think about our Picture Share Friday and how I could improve it. I really just want you guys to go out each week and take pictures. I can’t stress that enough!! I totally understand that it is hard to tackle a new photography skill each and every week. I am a mom too and I know life is crazy :O) So I started to think, what about instead of sharing what you learned about photography that week why not share what you learned about anything :O) Did you learn something about yourself, your kids, photography, cooking, or whatever. Share with us what you learned!

For example:
I learned…I really want a macro lens (post a picture like the one above :O)
I learned…my dogs know how to run away (take a picture of your crazy dog and post it)
I learned…my daughter loves to be the line leader at school (take a picture of your daughter and post it)
I learned…garlic really does taste great on everything (take a picture of the yummy pizza with garlic on it and post it)

Get the idea?? You know the old saying “You learn something new everyday!” Take pictures of it and share with us!! Some weeks you may learn a photography skill and want critiques. GREAT!! Share and ask for them! If you didn’t learn a new photography skill that is great too! Tell us what you learned.

As always
1. Post ONE photo
2. Link your permalink, not your blog address
3. Attach our button to your post
4. Ask for critiques if you want them and post your settings
5. Leave a comment on 5 other posts

Click it up a notch

While editing pictures today i learned that my smoke detectors/alarms actually work and are really loud. (i was frying some lumpia/eggroll and i forgot about them)

I have learned ~ it is, at times, better to veer off of my choosen path.

Courtney ~ any suggestions for settings on my night photo?

That is a great thing to learn and remember :O) I’ll take a look at it again and leave you a comment!

      Manual mode
      Tripod
ISO100-200 (lower iso = less noise and better detail)
F/11 (will give you some kind of star effect)
30sec is a good place to start

This is where I would start.

    Thanks Courtney,

Gerry 30sec?! really? I would ever have done that. We experiencing a Nor’easter at the moment, very high winds and buckets of rain. As soon as the skies clear, I’m grabbing my camera, tripod, hubby and heading back over. Thanks again

Trish, I just left you a comment on your blog with some ideas :O)

I use 30sec as a baseline. It will depend on how much light is (still) available. I’ll take some nite shots tonight and will try to post.

Regarding “A Gift from Stella”: I think you were right to leave the street in–it made it a little more interesting. Also, I had a dog named Stella once (she was the cutest dog anyone has ever seen). My Italian landlord named her.
