What are the BEST gifts for photographers?
Photographers are people who love to create, who see beauty everywhere they turn, and obviously who enjoy their gadgets. So the best gift for photographers can be a wide variety of things.
If you or the person you’re buying for has a camera, or will be getting one soon, you might want to consider the gift of education. Do you want to take complete control over your camera? I have just the course for you. This is one of the best gifts for photographers.
See here: Beginners Guide to Manual Mode
We will be providing you very specific ideas to help you think outside of the box of just your typical camera, lens, bag etc. But you will see those too because I don’t know a photographer who wouldn’t love a new lens!
What beginner photographers need
A new photographer is going to need a camera body. Do some research as there are a variety of options and brands based on your specific budget and photography needs.
Pick a lens
Next up you’ll want a lens. I always recommend buying the camera body only and then buying a lens instead of the kit lens that typically come with the cameras. You will be able to buy a better lens like this one, for the same price if not cheaper!
The 35mm is a lens I recommend often. It’s a great first lens to have. It is versatile and good for almost any photography style. It can take beautiful portraits, or snap the family photo. It’s small and lightweight, you wont even know it is there. Best of all it is budget friendly.
Another great and affordable option is the 50mm lens. You will often hear this referred to as the “Nifty Fifty.” It is a little bit of a tighter frame but gives you stunning photos.

Grab a SD Card
Next you’ll need a SD card… or two. A SD card is memory card that will hold all of your photos. These come in all different sizes and speeds just pick what will work best for your photography needs. This SD card will hold 128 GB so that should more than cover your beginner photography needs.
Keeping your gear clean is a vital part of it working properly. Having a cleaning kit will give you the proper tools to clean it with and avoid damage to your new gear.
There is nothing like putting a beautiful new strap on a new camera. Even better with Fotostrap they can personalize any camera strap you would like.
Also having something that doesn’t show off the brand might be a good safety measure when traveling with a nice new camera.
The best thing you can do is keep your camera and lens safe at all times. If it is not in your hands, it is important to keep it covered to keep any dust out of it. This also helps prevent any unwanted damage.
We love this one because it can attach to most every bag and it is compact but big enough for one camera and one lens. That’s perfect for a beginner.
